Dear Friends.

My name is Alessandro Criscito, industrial designer and visual artist, located in Santiago de Chile. I share with my esteemed editorial committee my last work in Design of Conceptual Furniture, proposing new functional system of interaction with the designs. Enigma.

In this cabinet of great simplicity, there is a mystery to solve, meanwhile, historically, the furniture has needed some type of door or drawer to protect the objects that store. This new formula proposes a new archetype.

The Enigma system does not require doors as it incorporates a new material, consisting of low density foam, which keeps the books between their sheets leaving them "hidden". This innovative method allows the cabinet to be completely "open", without doors, but at the same time, "hide" the books that are inside it. Another possibility is to leave a small section of the books in view, so that the user has a signal of what is hidden in the cabinet.

The use of foam in furniture generates a paradox when storing objects, as there is a contradiction between empty and full, between visible and hidden. On this occasion, the door or cover that protects the objects is replaced by the same support material.
